I am an Associate Professor of Education at SUNY Geneseo, specializing in Educational Foundations and Philosophy of Education.

Dewey's aesthetics and his understanding of human embodiedness
What arenas of practice are you interested in working in?
k-12 schooling, arts, environment, community renewal
Say more about issues of practice that interest you.
I am currently invesitigating the consequences for art and aesthetic education of Dewey's aesthetics, including, especially, the influence of Albert Barnes on Dewey's thinking. I am also looking at the significance of Dewey's understanding of human embodiedness for multicultural and anti-racist pedagogies.
What specific activites do you hope the John Dewey Society can undertake?
To take active steps, as an organization, to work for educational policies and reforms more consistent with the basic elements of Dewey's vision of public education.
