What particular Deweyan ideas are you most interested in?
political theory; ideas related to democracy and ethics.
What arenas of practice are you interested in working in?
k-12 schooling, policy, international issues, environment, community renewal
Say more about issues of practice that interest you.
My work has been focused on themes of community, democratic life, ci citizenship education, and the public sphere as it relates to education. I've explored themes of cosmopolitanism and ecological justice as they relate to citizenship education in K-12 schools. I've also done some work on the teaching of ethics to educators using aesthetic approaches.
What specific activites do you hope the John Dewey Society can undertake?
I think more and more scholars are interested in becoming more "public" with their scholarship while not abandoning other kinds of philosophical and academic writing/publications. I think JDS might help lead philosophers of education as well as others in this renewal of public scholarship.
