- About Me:
- I am the program director for an alternative licensure program and also chair the teacher education department. My background is in foundations/history/philosophy of education. I studied with Joe Green at LSUS -- some folks might know him from years past in the society -- he encouraged his grad students to join the society -- and Joe Kincheloe there as well.....I really enjoy working with my curriculum classes -- where we read some Dewey.
- What particular Deweyan ideas are you most interested in?
- the notions of community and democracy -- developing students who are willing to participate in the school, community, and global communities as change agents -- that's all!
- What arenas of practice are you interested in working in?
- higher education
- Say more about issues of practice that interest you.
- the development of teacher education programs that encompass larger societal goals that address issues that seem to drive our society into problem-ridden enclaves of uneducated citizenry who negate all or some possibilities of participating in a participatory democracy.
- What specific activites do you hope the John Dewey Society can undertake?
- Move forward in advancing the ideals of a democratic society at all levels of public education -- make connections to other organizations that serve democratic practices -- unite to form a more politically and socially powerful force in effecting our country's policies and practices
