What particular Deweyan ideas are you most interested in?
democracy, habit, growth, children, children, children
What arenas of practice are you interested in working in?
higher education, international issues, community renewal
Say more about issues of practice that interest you.
I teach at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, which prepares a large number of Wisconsin's teachers. Most of my students are pre-service teachers, nearly all undergraduates. Given how important it is to get Dewey's ideas into the schools -- in a genuine, Deweyan practice -- I'm interested in finding more ways to engage the teachers of the future with Dewey's ideas and Dewey's vision.
What specific activites do you hope the John Dewey Society can undertake?
I often find myself interested in specific topics or themes that I suspect Dewey has something to say about but I don't know where he says it. But I also suspect wiser, more experienced Dewey scholars know more about these themes -- e.g. Aristotelian ideas in Dewey, Dewey's influence on and influenced by other scholars he might have known (e.g. Franz Boas), Dewey as an urban thinker -- and I'd love this website to serve as a place to ask questions and get directions from others interested in Dewey's work.

Hi, Amy,

I stumbled upon this page by getting a note from AG Rud about Craig's post "Democracy is a Learning Theory."

It was great seeing you in Cambridge.
